On That Note: Inside Look At The Life of A Professional Musician

Wolfgang Gauch

Today, we launch a new series on Lake Effect, called “On That Note.”

It’s a monthly conversation about music with internationally renowned cellist Robert Cohen. He’s been the cellist for the Milwaukee-based Fine Arts Quartet for almost three years, but as we’ll soon hear, music has been a part of his life since he was small.

Cohen will join us for some wide-ranging conversations about the unique realities of being a professional musician – from traveling with a cello to the realities of a recording studio to what it’s like to step out on the concert stage.

Today, though, we get his back story – he explains to Bonnie North how the cello became part of his life.

Bonnie North
Bonnie joined WUWM in March 2006 as the Arts Producer of the locally produced weekday magazine program Lake Effect.
For 35 years one of the worlds leading cello soloist, Robert Cohen is an award-winning recording artist, conductor, artistic director and pedagogue who has been broadcast on TV and radio throughout the world. His passionate views on the art of learning, performing and communicating music have been widely published.
