Past and Future of Milwaukee County Transit

This summer, the news came out that the for-profit, Texas-based MV Transportation was the chosen bidder to operate the Milwaukee County Transit System.

If the contract is approved – and the process is currently on hold – MV would replace the non-profit Milwaukee Transport Services, which has operated the system for several decades.

To get some perspective on the future of transit in Milwaukee, Lake Effect has talked with MV Transportation CEO Carter Pate, County Board chairwoman Marina Dimitrijevic and, now, chief marketing and communications officer Jacqueline Janz of Milwaukee Transport Services.

Why Milwaukee Transport Services believes it is best qualified to keep operating Milwaukee County Transit:

"Those type of statistics - about being the most efficient, the most fare box revenue, all those low administration costs - I think that provides the proof that we have the qualifications to keep providing excellent service for Milwaukee." - Jacqueline Janz
