The Milwaukee Rep has teamed up with the Cincinnati Playhouse to produce the prequel to Peter Pan.
The Tony Award-winning play, Peter and the Starcatcher, opens Friday. The story features Peter Pan's backstory, answering such questions as: Why didn't Peter want to grow up and where did the lost boys come from?
Blake Robison says it makes sense for the Milwaukee Rep and Cincinnati Playhouse to join focuses. He's the artistic director of the Cincinnati Playhouse and director of this production.
"(Collaboration) allows the art to live for longer. If you’re an actor in one of these plays and you might get hired in to do a show for eight weeks, you add a second theater and all of a sudden your eight weeks becomes maybe 14 or 16 weeks," he says.
