To continue our celebration of National Poetry Month, Milwaukee poet Carmen Alicia Murguia recalls a special trip to Kansas City:

PARA JODI EN KANSAS CITY

Este Verano

me

monté

en

un avión

que

aterrizó

En

tus

brazos.

Y

mientras

me acostaba

en

el

agua

yo

soñaba

que

TE

alimentaba

con

igos.

FOR JODI (IN KANSAS CITY)

This Summer

I

took

an Aeroplane

that

landed

into

her

arms.

And,

as I laid

upon

the pool

water

I

dreamt

of

feeding

HER

figs.
