Comedian Lisa Lampanelli is known as the "Queen of Mean,” but if you think that’s all she is, then you’re in for a big surprise.
No one is safe when this insult comic hits the stage, but when the lights go down and she's back to normal life, Lampanelli says it makes her "cringe" when she hears someone use a racial slur.
"Offstage is a whole different story. You know, I'm very careful with language and things like that just because in my gut, I'm a different person than I am on stage," she says.
Lampanelli is perhaps most famous as a regular on the Comedy Central Roasts, where she mocked celebrities like Pamela Anderson, David Hasselhoff and William Shatner. She even roasted Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump, and was a contestant on his show Celebrity Apprentice.
She was surprised that Trump made a presidential bid, and suggested she would make a great vice presidential candidate. Although she doesn't agree with some of his rhetoric, Lampanelli doubts his sincerity.
"Ever since he made those statements about Mexicans, I was like, 'Wow, I can't believe he stole my act,'" she says. "The difference is I don't mean it, but I guess he does. Part of me wonders if he means anything he says because he just likes to get a rise out of people."
Standup comedian, Lisa Lampanelli, will be performing at the Pabst Theater Saturday, June 4.
