The five piece Irish band Seo Linn has a distinctive style that combines the traditional sense of Irish music along with the new. Performing and writing music in English and Irish, Seo Linn sometimes switches languages in mid-song. The group's original songs, Irish covers of pop tunes and high energy stage show has catapulted them from barely being a band to headlining shows internationally.
"It was kind of a case of going from doing the odd college gig in Maynooth and Kildare in Ireland up to supporting Madness within the space of about three months. Which was absolute madness ... It was really a baptism of fire," says Seo Linn guitar player and singer Stiofán Ó Fearail. "But look, it’s put us on an absolute brilliant journey — we’ve traveled all over the world at this stage."
The group makes their Milwaukee Irish Fest debut Thursday night, but they stopped by the studio to chat with us first and give us a taste of their music:
