Hundreds of thousands of people are going through the turnstiles along the Lake Michigan shore at Summerfest this week, and many of them will see headliner shows at the Marcus Amphitheatre. But these concert-goers most-likely won't notice an unassuming RV parked near the entrance to the amphitheatre.
More than thirty bands will spend at least a few minutes inside the RV, recording songs for the Milwaukee-based, Sing Me a Story. The foundation connects musicians with stories written by children. Bands set the stories to music, and the organization records the songs to benefit children's charities.
"We partner with local organizations that are serving kids in need, and we give them the opportunity to write and illustrate stories about whatever they want," says Austin Atteberry, director of Sing Me a Story.
