In Tandem Explores the Poignancy & Humor of Death in New Play

Ross Zentner

What happens when you combine the loss of a loved one with a road trip? At In Tandem Theatre, you get the new playCome Back by local playwright Neil Haven.

Most of us aren’t tasked by the person we’re mourning to undertake a road trip to find the perfect resting place for his or her remains. Come Back deals with that mix of humor, grief, anger and exasperation.

Neil Haven joined Lake Effect's Bonnie North in the studio, along with actress Sara Zientek and director Jane Flieller.

"Everyone’s trying to be so solemn and polite, and most people there are at their wits end. And you see them cracking up. You see family members getting together and laughing," Haven said. "And I joked about it before but really, when you’ve been to a good funeral, they’re pretty funny…"

Come Back opened last week at In Tandem Theatreand runs through March 22nd.
