Tuesday on Lake Effect: County Executive Candidates on MPS, Primative Chewing, and Precious Lives

Tuesday on Lake Effect:

We speak with the incumbent Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele and his challenger State Senator Chris Larson about the plans to help struggling MPS schools. We look at Abele’s decision to bring Demond Mean on board as the Opportunity Schools and Partnership Program (OSPP) Commissioner, and Chris Larson’s belief that the county executive should be playing a smaller role in MPS. Then, a new study finds that cutting our food helped us evolve, and essayist Jonathan West is glad for that (most of the time). Plus we have the latest in our series on children and gun violence in Milwaukee, Precious Lives.

Guests:

  • Chris Abele, Milwaukee County Executive; Demond Means, OSPP Commissioner; Chris Larson, State Senator; Rachel Morello, WUWM Education Reporter
  • Katie Zink, Harvard University
  • Jonathan West, Lake Effect Contributor
  • Precious Lives, series
