Updated: Lockdown at Carroll University Cancelled and Classes Are to Resume

Waukesha police say they have a person in custody fitting the description of a man with an alleged gun on the campus of Carroll University. However, at this point, it's believed that he was in possession of an airsoft gun, which very closely resembles a gun.

At around 10:30 A.M., Carroll public safety received a call that there was a man with a gun on campus. Waukesha police arrived soon after.

Police were able to track down the suspect who is known in the area.

The lockdown at Carroll University has been canceled. University officials are saying business can now continue as usual. Below is the email.
 

The temporary lockdown of the Carroll University campus has been lifted per instructions from the Waukesha Police Department and the Carroll Campus Safety Department. Waukesha police have in custody a suspect who was seen on campus earlier today carrying a gun. It is not known at this time what kind of gun it was. Afternoon classes will resume immediately.

Carroll University has canceled classes after reports of a gunman on campus. Those who are already inside classrooms are being kept there while police investigate.

Several Waukesha Public Schools near the university are also on lockdown. Those schools include: Central Middle School, STEM Saratoga and Randall.

Police are searching for a a male in his 50s with a beard, brown jacket, black hat. He was last seen walking west from Barstow toward Grand at around 10:20 a.m.

Waukesha’s Carroll University is keeping its students inside classrooms, while police investigate reports of a man with a firearm.

The university sent a text alert to students informing them of the lockdown.

The Associated Press is reporting that Carroll’s public safety office received a report of a man with a gun, near the campus tennis courts.

For the time being, no one is being allowed to leave the campus buildings.

At 11:30 A.M. (Central Time), Carroll University sent this tweet out:

"Searching for a male in his 50s with a beard, brown jacket, black hat. Last seen walking west from Barstow toward Grand about 10:20am."
