UWM's School of Social Welfare Partners with FEMA

Jon Strelecki

When disasters strike, one of the most important calls for help is to FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency. But, when FEMA arrives at the scene of an emergency, how does the agency connect with local first responders?

UW-Milwaukee is teaming up with FEMA to coordinate a unique program designed to bring together disaster relief teams to better plan ways to help the public.

Stan Stojkovic, Dean of the Helen Bader School of Social Welfare discusses UWM’s groundbreaking partnership with  FEMA —how it came about, how the two organizations have come together to-date, and what is planned for future collaborations.

Tom Luljak hosted UWM Today on WUWM for more than two decades and is the inaugural host of Curious Campus.
