In case you hadn’t noticed it for the past few months, there are things like grass and pavement under what until recently were persistent piles of Wisconsin snow.
The rocks that can be found even further underneath all of it formed over hundreds of millions of years. All of these rocks of many different kinds can be more interesting than you might have thought.
Rob Graziano, instructor and an instructional lab manager in the Department of Geosciences at UW-Milwaukee, already knows they're interesting.
Rob Graziano is behind a series ofScience Baglectures ongoing this month. He spoke with Lake Effect's Bonnie North for a primer on our rocks found in Wisconsin, and how our state's landscape caught his attention.
"It was really in my third year of schooling at UWM that I found the passion, and it was some professors that inspired me. And I thought, 'This is pretty exciting. I get to work out in the field and study rocks and do something relevant with them."
