Young Professionals and Businesses Connect By Trading Insight

newaukee.com
Newaukee hosts its annual Young Professional's week April 11-18.

You may not be aware of it, but it’s Young Professionals Week in Milwaukee. It’s also Young Professionals Week in seven other cities across the state.

The event’s website describes it as a “weeklong platform for discovery, adventure and meaningful conversations about the issues that matter among young professionals in Wisconsin.”

The events range from social to informative and include employers, non-profit organizations and arts groups as well as the aforementioned young professionals. It’s a chance for everyone to schmooze, but the organizers also have bigger goals in mind.

Angela Damiani is one of those organizers. She’s the president of NEWaukee, a "social architecture group" in the city. NEWaukee is the umbrella group that has put the Young Professionals Week together across the state.

Damiani says social architecture is a theory that "you can consciously design a place by shifting the social behaviors of the people there towards a single goal."

In regards to Milwaukee specifically, the group is changing  how people connect, both online and in person. Damiani says the week is an opportunity to "establish what it means to be a young professional in the state of Wisconsin."

Damiani stopped by to the Lake Effect studio to not only discuss Young Professionals week, but the workers themselves and how Milwaukee businesses can attract and keep the younger workforce:
